T'was the Night Before Christmas: How to Keep Calm When Everything’s Stirring

It’s Christmas Eve, and while visions of sugar plums may be dancing in some heads, you’re probably juggling last-minute wrapping, baking, and an overexcited family. Don’t worry – here are some quick tips to keep the night merry, not manic!

  • Simplify Santa’s Workshop: Last-minute wrapping? No need for perfect bows and elaborate tags. Grab a roll of tape, stick on a gift tag, and remember – it’s the thought that counts, not the wrapping skills.

  • Set Up a DIY Snack Station: Avoid kitchen overload by setting up a snack station for the kids (and grown-ups). Stock it with easy treats and let everyone snack to their heart’s content – no constant trips to the kitchen!

  • Limit the Christmas Eve ‘Surprises’: Keep traditions manageable. If you’re doing a Christmas Eve movie, keep it short. The goal is festive fun, not a late-night marathon that leaves everyone cranky on Christmas morning.

  • Encourage Early Bedtime for Santa’s Visit: If little ones are bouncing off the walls, let them help set out cookies for Santa, then gently encourage bedtime. After all, Santa won’t visit until everyone’s snoozing!

Christmas Eve should be a time of joy and cozy traditions – not a rush to finish everything. Embrace the holiday spirit, take a deep breath, and enjoy the magic of the night. Tomorrow, you can let the festivities begin!
